the lottery ticket for this game was high M-G word cuz maddy had won the club championship. so i open with MON leaving DEIN and tim does MONK/KIVA. i have ADEINY? and don't find a bingo right away, but once i saw (MONK)EYINg for 63, there was no looking back :) i drew a bingo next turn too...

a hard choice near the beginning and i take the one that is less defensive but scores 13 more points. she bingoes into it for 86 putting her back in the game and i have to luck out and draw the second blank to come back...
4) vs ira cohen
for: REDIALER*
against: RELENTS, INSTANTS, InERTIA
L: 368-431
i was incredibly angry for the second half of this game and about 5 minutes after it although i maintained my composure. i felt ok a few minutes later anyway. i somehow got away with redialer* (leadier fit but i really thought redialer* was a new word, and apparently so did ira, what were we thinking of?). then i draw the blank on turn 6. i score 40 with good tiles keeping 3 consonants and a vowel. until the very end of the game (turn 14) all my racks were 5 consonants, a blank, and a vowel. not pretty consonants either, stuff like DGV, QRRR, CDKN. DMTY. don't blame my rack management, nearly all the plays in between those turns simmed at the top. meanwhile he drew a bingo and the other blank gave him another bingo. he blocks the board at the end and i'm staring at DELLST? and nothing fits in the other lane i had opened. i didn't even bother to work out a stuck with Q endgame for him, i could have gotten another ~30 spread. agh!!!! if this is the way my dayton div 1 games are gonna go i'm going to hitchhike home after lunch on the first day. just kidding. ira's cool. i'm fixing his computer right now cuz it's full of spyware.
